An Elephant never forgets
Sometimes inspiration comes from an observation in a moment, followed by a desire to express affection; we remember and create. Memories connect these moments and form stories. So one thing leads to another, connecting matter, found objects, and ephemera.
The D Michael Studio Portfolio is a collection of thoughts and images assembled to engage and inspire beauty, thought, with possibility.

Dusk In Soft Rock
We have made quality our habit. It’s not something that we just strive for – we live by this principle every day.
Where are you from?
"Somewhere between a rock and a hard place" is an idiomatic expression that describes a situation where someone faces two equally tricky or unfavorable choices, leaving them in a dilemma with no easy solution. The origin of this phrase is found in Greek mythology.
In Greek mythology, there is a story about the hero Odysseus (also known as Ulysses) and his encounter with the sea monster Scylla and the whirlpool Charybdis. In Homer's epic poem "The Odyssey," Odysseus and his crew had to navigate through a narrow strait between these deadly threats. On one side, there was Scylla, a six-headed monster that would devour any sailors who came too close, and on the other side, there was Charybdis, a powerful whirlpool that could engulf and destroy their ship.
Odysseus faced a difficult choice: sail closer to Scylla and risk losing some of his crew, or sail closer to Charybdis and risk the entire ship being swallowed by the whirlpool. Ultimately, Odysseus chose to steer his ship closer to Scylla, sacrificing a few of his men but ensuring the survival of the majority.
This ancient tale of Odysseus navigating between Scylla and Charybdis symbolizes being caught between two equally undesirable options. Over time, the phrase "Somewhere between a rock and a hard place" has emerged to depict such a predicament, emphasizing the difficulty of the choices.
